These minimalist gaiters are designed to prevent small stones, dead leaves, and other debris from entering your shoes while shinogi. Made from breathable softshell fabric, they avoid the uncomfortable stuffiness often associated with rain gaiters. Their short length keeps the total weight for both feet at just 37g, and they also feature stretchability. The slim fit, inspired by traditional Japanese tabi socks, reduces strain on your feet during long periods of shinogi and helps ensure safety on rough terrain. The toggle fastener attached to the shoelaces allows for easy and secure fastening.

○ User Experience
A kunai that fits snugly around your foot eliminates stress on your lower legs during snowshoeing and ensures a clear view of the ground, allowing you to safely navigate rough terrain. If you secure the hem tightly around your shoes, foreign objects won’t get in, and snow won’t seep in either. When used correctly, you’ll experience this level of comfort for yourself.

〇How to Use It
Unless I’m trekking through snowy terrain, I get by with the Kunai Short no matter if it’s sunny or raining. Since I don’t usually wear waterproof shoes, I’m not too concerned about them getting wet, and as long as I keep the water-repellent treatment up to date, they hold up just fine. I thread the front toggle at the hem through the shoelaces, then pull it up to secure it. Then, by attaching a bungee cord or sturdy cord to the loops on both sides of the hem and securing it to the bottom of the shoe, the hem fits snugly around the shoe, preventing debris from entering and keeping the hem from riding up. Additionally, the hook-and-loop fastener (loop) on the back of the heel allows for easy attachment to certain types of shoes. The Kunai Short creates a graceful, beautiful silhouette when paired with double-layered pants, hakama skirts, or Ameno skirts.

○ Material Characteristics
The double-faced softshell fabric provides the Kunai Short with all the strength it needs. Although the breathability ratings from a third-party testing agency aren’t particularly high, in actual use, you’ll hardly feel any stuffiness. In addition to offering moderate wind resistance and water repellency, it also meets the UPF 50+ standard for UV protection.
