To endure the sweltering heat of summer, you need an active layer that supports physical performance and is durable enough to withstand the demands of the season. That’s why we developed Hachijuhachiya, a crew-neck T-shirt featuring a simple yet distinctive design. Hachijuhachiya is made from a hybrid fabric with a merino wool inner layer and a polyester outer layer.We began using the predecessor to this fabric in 2015, and in 2019, with the cooperation of the fabric manufacturer, we lightened it to create the current Hachijuhachiya fabric. Since then, we have continued to use this fabric in Hachijuhachiya, as it offers moisture-wicking, quick-drying, odor-resistant, durable, and lightweight properties. It’s rare to find a fabric with such a perfect balance, and through years of use, we have come to fully appreciate its merits.

〇Mindfully
The Hachijuhachiya is an active layer featuring merino wool against the skin and moisture-wicking polyester on the outer surface. As you climb steep ridges and break a sweat, the merino wool absorbs moisture while actively wicking it away to the surface to dry it. You’ll truly appreciate the benefits of merino wool, as it prevents sweat from dripping and minimizes odor retention.While this high-performance layer features a hybrid construction, it also possesses a calm, understated aesthetic, dyed in deep, traditional Japanese colors. It can be worn comfortably from the time of the "Hachijuhachiya" (the 88th night after the summer solstice), when the weather begins to warm, until the first signs of autumn appear.

〇Styling
The crew-neck design looks great on its own, but it also looks stylish when layered under a Noragi or Michikusa. If the wind is a concern, layer a Kunado over it for extra warmth. When you arrive at a hammock spot to rest, throw on the Octa outer layer to absorb sweat and prevent you from getting chilled.
