We have revised our dyeing method from "yarn dyeing"—where the yarn is dyed before weaving—to "piece dyeing," where the fabric is dyed after it has been woven.
*Yamato Michi's 100% Light Merino series is available in wide, standard, and slim fits; the 100% Light Merino T-shirt is a wide fit.
■Precautions for Use
○ About dye transfer
Please note that this product may cause color transfer if it rubs against white or light-colored shirts that are wet from sweat or rain.
○ About Using the Dryer
You may use the dryer on a low-temperature cycle (maximum 60°C). However, please avoid using this setting too frequently, as it can cause the fabric to pill or shed fibers. If the fabric dries while folded or wrinkled, the wrinkles will set once the garment cools down. Therefore, do not use a laundry net; instead, dry the item on its own or in a machine with ample space. Remove the item promptly after drying.
*Note: Using a dryer may cause the garment to shrink by 1–2 cm in length, but this can be corrected by washing and line-drying it again.

・The neckline features a double-stitched finish for a clean, polished look.
・The neckline is reinforced with a tape-bound finish that extends from both shoulders to the back of the neck.
・The back panel is cut longer to prevent the hem from riding up when wearing a backpack and to keep the waistline from showing when bending over.
・A pocket on the left chest for storing small items while hiking.
■Disadvantages of Wool
While merino wool has excellent properties and features, it does, of course, have its drawbacks. Please be sure to understand both the pros and cons before wearing it.
・Absorbs water and becomes heavy
Because it has a high moisture content and absorbs a lot of water, it takes longer to dry than synthetic fibers. However, quick-drying fibers generate latent heat as moisture evaporates, which carries the risk of rapidly drawing heat away from the body. That said, when comparing fabrics of the same thickness, they do dry faster than cotton.
・Prone to insect damage
Soft animal fibers such as wool, cashmere, and silk are particularly attractive to clothing pests.
・Prone to developing holes from friction
Because wool fibers are short, they tend to shed easily when rubbed, causing the fabric to thin out and develop holes more readily than synthetic or cotton fabrics.
・Prone to shrinking
Although wool is known to shrink easily when washed, even washable wool that has been treated to resist shrinking will still shrink to some extent.
・Distortion is likely to occur due to skewing
Due to the nature of knit fabrics, washing causes the fibers to swell, creating a force that tries to reverse the twist. This can cause the fabric to distort diagonally, resulting in a warped shape.
・It has that distinctive wool smell
Due to the nature of animal fibers, you may notice a distinctive odor when the fabric is damp—such as after spinning during the wash cycle—but the odor will disappear once it dries.

・Yama to Michi’s 100% merino wool fabric is resistant to shrinkage, so it can be washed in a washing machine on a gentle cycle—such as the “delicate cycle”—which uses a gentle water flow to wash delicate garments.
・Regular detergents can strip wool of its natural oils, causing the dye to run and leading to color fading. When washing, please use a mild detergent designed for delicate fabrics.
・Because the fibers are short, pilling and fuzz may occur; however, as you wash the item, some of the fuzz will shed, and pilling will become less likely.
