The neck warmer was designed to keep the neck warm in cold weather and to wipe away sweat, but it’s also an essential accessory for adding a stylish touch to your outfit.
Artisans carefully hand-dye each piece one by one, using patterns inspired by objects associated with shino-gami.
With the cooperation of the mountain shawl manufacturer PRIRET, these shawls were crafted by artisans in and around Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture—a region that has long flourished as a center of silk weaving and is celebrated as “the weaving capital of Japan.”

It serves as a shawl that won’t make you overheat in cold weather and as a towel with excellent moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties in hot weather.
Slowly woven on a shuttle loom, this Kubimaki is double-layered, so when rolled into a tube and slipped over your head, it can be styled like a neck gaiter, a shmagh, or a hijab.
