Twisted yarn is yarn made by twisting several yarns together. There are hollow hand-knitting yarns made from one type of yarn, and yarns made from different types of yarn, such as polyester and wool yarns, which are combined into one yarn.

The hardness and strength of twisted yarns vary depending on the number of twists, so it is a skilled skill to complete the twisted yarns through repeated trials and fine-tuning of the twists with the finished product in mind. In addition, twisted yarns that have been raised, specially shaped or modified are called 'design twisted yarns'.

Unique Japanese technology
Among twisted yarns, design twisted yarns require a special technique, and in fact there are several companies in Japan that have very good technology in design twisted yarns.
Many maison brands make clothes from fabrics that have never been seen before, and many of these are based on this high Japanese technology. Special design twisting yarns, which are not usually done for mass-produced products and require a lot of time and money, are the result of the pursuit of unique Japanese technology, and can be said to be a unique and proud know-how.

Birth of the Octa x Wool ROAR series.
STATIC has focused on this design twist yarn technology, twisting wool onto hollow Octa yarn and filing only the wool to raise it. This has resulted in AYUKAN, a unique yarn that combines the lightness of Octa yarn with the fullness and warmth of raised wool.

The yarn is then knitted in its entirety using WHOLEGARMENT to produce knitted products. With WHOLEGARMENT, garments are knitted directly from the yarn. Normally, 20-30% of T-shirts and fleeces are lost when the fabric is cut and become unusable waste (*). With WHOLEGARMENT, however, only about 6 g of yarn waste is discharged when a whole garment is knitted, which means that the loss rate is less than 5%.

*STATIC is also working on recycling and returning cutting waste to yarn instead of throwing it away.

■Environmental
Adopt manufacturing methods that minimise material losses.
The raised part is wool, so there is less shedding of microplastics.
Octa yarn is not dyed, reducing CO2 emissions in yarn dyeing by more than 50%.
100% PET bottle-derived recycled polyester is used for brand tags, size tags and quality labels.
... and secondary materials are also made from recycled materials.
This product is not individually wrapped in plastic, but is shipped wrapped in thin paper.
