Whole garment knit insulation with NIKKE AXIO. The unique uneven structure holds air to keep you warm, while also ensuring breathability. More than 30% lighter than conventional products.
Insulation is essential for mountaineering and winter trail running. If it is made of wool, a natural high-performance material, it can be worn more comfortably with moisture absorption/desorption and odour control functions. The yarn has been changed from the conventional MERINO AIR HOODY and NIKKE AXIO, a recycled polyester and wool blend yarn also used in the DRY WOOL T-SHIRT, has been adopted. It is finished in a lean WHOLEGARMENT knit. By adjusting the knitted fabric while increasing the wool content, we have achieved a weight reduction of more than 30% from the previous product's 400 g to 265 g in size M. Worn alone during high-intensity exercise such as running, or in combination with a base layer during hikes, it maintains ideal warmth and breathability.
Yarns that don't sacrifice feel NIKKE AXIO
The MERINO AIR HOODY 2 is not simply made from a wool-polyester blend. NIKKE AXIO" is a special yarn made by twisting polyester filaments so that they are wrapped inside wool fibre bundles. In this way, the functionality of the polyester is contained, while the feel of the wool and the scales of the wool fibres are maximised.

No waste, no sewing [WHOLEGARMENT].
WHOLEGARMENT, made possible by a unique advanced technology developed by SHIMA SEIKI, is a technology that knits the entire knit without sewing. As no sewing allowance is needed, the 30% cut loss required for general knitwear is eliminated and yarn waste can be significantly reduced. Small-lot production is also possible, which helps to solve the problem of excess stock.
NIKKE AXIO, recycled polyester.
HERENESS had been looking at the functionality of NIKKE AXIO since before it was launched and was considering commercialising it. However, at the time, NIKKE AXIO only existed in virgin polyester, so we gave up using it. We continued to ask for the filament to be made from recycled polyester, and with the cooperation of NIKKE, we were finally able to use NIKKE AXIO in recycled material. We plan to expand our range of wool x recycled polyester products using NIKKE AXIO in the future.
