Alpha Vest: Enhanced abdominal warmth and wind protection
The Alpha Vest, YAMATO's most minimalist active insulation piece, now features a kangaroo pocket.
The front is made of thick Polartec Alpha Direct (136 g/m²), which combines excellent thermal insulation with breathability to prevent sweating and overheating during activity, while the kangaroo pocket—featuring Shadow Rip fabric with moderate wind resistance—protects the abdomen from wind chill. Meanwhile, the back and shoulders are intentionally finished with lightweight, breathable Shadow Rip fabric alone, helping to prevent sweating even when carrying a backpack.
Minimal protection for hikers who don’t want to stop walking—not even long enough to put on a shell.

Since the back and shoulders tend to get hot when carrying a backpack during activities, and you’re less likely to feel the cold at night because you’re in close contact with your sleeping pad, we’ve intentionally placed the highly insulating Polartec Alpha Direct fabric only on the front panel, while using ultra-thin, highly breathable Shadow Rip fabric on the back and shoulders.
○ A kangaroo pocket to protect your abdomen from the cold
If your abdomen or internal organs get cold while hiking, you could, in the worst case, become unable to move. That’s why the Alpha Vest Kangaroo features a kangaroo pocket made of Shadow Rip fabric—which offers moderate wind resistance—positioned over the abdomen. By placing items such as a hand towel or a map inside the spacious kangaroo pocket, you can further enhance warmth and wind resistance, protecting your abdomen from the cold.

・Do not use fabric softener or bleach.

・If the fabric sheds noticeably when you first purchase it, please wash it once.
■Caring for Faded Fleece
The brushed fabric used in Yama to Michi’s Active Insulation is lightweight and highly breathable, yet provides just the right amount of warmth.
However, repeated use may cause the nap to flatten, which could reduce the fabric's insulation properties.
In that case, please gently brush the fabric in the direction of the nap using a metal lint brush designed specifically for stuffed animals.
*This care method is designed to restore the nap and improve insulation. However, fibers that have fallen out due to wear and tear will not grow back.
*The effectiveness of the heat retention restoration may vary depending on how the product is used.
