■Thought and creation
I wanted to make an artistic hammock.
There was no compromise there.
Before I knew it, 10 years had passed since I became fascinated by hammocks through sinogging.
During that time, using several hammocks of different natures and experiencing the good and bad of things with their updates, it became clear what kind of hammock was needed for sinogging.
The desire to create an ideal hammock led to the selection of several candidates for the particular material, but when the hammock was made into a hammock, it was not possible to achieve a satisfactory level of comfort.
To be honest, this was an unexpected development.
There are materials that improve the sleeping comfort to a certain extent, but they are so similar to other hammocks that there is no point in going to the trouble of surpassing them.
However, a fortuitous incident during the prototype stage led to a dramatic improvement in sleeping comfort and user-friendliness.
They came down.
This is the result of trial and error, and is an area that cannot be reached by "deciding on the fabric and size, sewing it and calling it a day".
The most enjoyable part of sinogging is the sleepovers. We slept in hammocks under various moons: new moon nights, crescent moon nights, full moon nights.
The name Gekkabijin (Moon Beauty) is imbued with such Ling's romanticism.
■ Sleeping comfort and ease of use
In general, polyester materials are less stretchy, so hammocks made from them can be hard to sleep in with no play.
In contrast, the Gekkavizin, which is made of a slightly stretchy nylon material, provides an air suspension-like floating sensation across the entire hammock surface.
'It feels like it stretches with your body'...
And while most hammocks tend to stand up on their long edges when weight is applied, the Gekkavizin does not, allowing you to sleep in a flatter position and preventing the long edges from digging into the back of your knees when you sit down.
And this is probably a by-product of the fabric stretching, but when you sit down, the back rises up a little to give you just the right amount of backrest.
The double weave, finely textured hammock surface is non-slip and highly breathable and sweat-absorbent, making it less likely to get stuffy.
This ensures comfort in humid weather and when going to bed in sweaty conditions.
240 cm long and 140 cm wide, it is large enough for a person up to 180 cm tall to sleep comfortably.
The small pockets on both sides of the hammock mean that not only can the pockets be used when lying or sitting in any direction, but the pockets are also positioned off-centre so that they are not inconvenient when used with an agrass skirt or hakama skirt.
■ use and use of the system
The key is to stretch the hammock a little higher because the hammock sinks when weight is put on it.
Based on Ling's aesthetics, no storage bag is included with the moonlit beauty.
This is because large fabric items such as tarps and hammocks fit well into the gaps in the backpack at the end of the packing process.
This allows the original shape of the backpack to be presented nicely and makes it easier to balance the load.

ECOSENSOR fabric from Asahi Kasei made from recycled materials is used.
The double-weave ripstop nylon with a subdued, non-glossy texture is moderately textured, light and pleasant to the touch, and has a high breathability of 16.6 cm3 /cm2 /s and is sweat absorbent to reduce stuffiness.
