In sinogging, the decision is made to use a hammock for rest and to get through the night. The hammock is a bed and a chair that invites sleep, and while it is an excellent tool, it is also a very vulnerable tool and requires a tarp to protect it from the wind and rain. When it comes to surviving the night, the tarp also plays an important role as a curtain that separates the hammock (tea room and bedroom) from the forest.

We mainly use the EXPED Solo Tarp in our sinogging, as the Solo Tarp is just the right size to cover one hammock. Many chinamen use it and it has become standard equipment for chinogging. However, and this is not surprising, the Solo Tarp was not designed with sinogging in mind. The Solo Tarp is a very good match, but after many years of use, you start to wish it was this way or that way, and you gradually become selfish.

The Sinoging tarp "Yanaginikaze" is a form of what we have learned from using the tarp together with a hammock in the low mountains here and there, both in rain and in snow.

There are many different tarps that can be used for hammocking. But there is probably no tarp that has been designed primarily for ease of use in hammock life like the Sinoging.

0 Usability.
When sitting in the hammock, the rear eaves are mostly closed, so the length of the eaves is 95 cm, which is sufficient. Conversely, the front eaves are 110 cm long so that there is plenty of room to spread out equipment around the hammock, making it easier to shelter from rain and snow. Relaxing in a hammock is one of the pleasures of chinogging, and if you are overnight chinogging, you will be spending the night, so making the eaves asymmetrical in length is an important point for ease of use.

The loops on the main body of the willowkaze are colour-coded with yellow for the centre line (i.e. the first thin line connecting it to the tree), dark red for the front eaves and brown for the rear eaves. This allows the centre, front, back, left and right to be visually recognised, so there is no chance of making a mistake when setting up in bad weather. In addition, the narrow pulls are reflective for nighttime visibility.

There is a loop for a ridge line inside the tarp for hanging the Hammock Bibby Tyvek and drying wet items, and a ridge line-specific thin pull with hooks and adjusters is included.

The slender back eaves when sitting in the hammock are not unnecessarily long, but are 160 cm long. This length is also sufficient to wrap around the anchor and bury it in the snow during the snow season.

The front eaves are not always stretched in the same way, but depending on the position of the trees they rely on, the wind and rain conditions, and their mood at the time, they can be stretched in different ways, so there are nine loops to allow a certain degree of freedom in this area. However, if you attach a thin pull to all of these loops, they will just get in the way and be noisy, so we don't attach them. The design is such that a 250 cm thin pull with attached hook and adjuster is attached only to the loop that is used at that time. In practice, the 250 cm thin drawstring may not be long enough, but don't worry, you can easily add the extra thin drawstring to the loop.

Firstly, the Yanaginikaze does not come with a storage bag. This is because it is Ling's style to slip the tarp into a gap in the backpack and use it as a starch paste to make the packing look nice. This way, he can quickly pull it out to make a roof, and he does not have to get the equipment he has stored in his backpack wet from rain or snow.

The willow gillnet is to be stretched in such a way as to catch the rain and wind by carefully observing the conditions at the time. Never tension the line with a bimble, but rather adjust the tension of each fine line and try to tension it beautifully. Nylon material has a slight stretch, which varies with humidity and other factors, so it is necessary to slightly re-tension any areas that become loose over time.

There are no convenient hooks attached to the end of a thin rope, so it must be secured with a pull-unhinge knot or similar. Those unfamiliar with ropework may find this troublesome, but in fact it is the most flexible, trouble-free and reliable method.

The back eaves transition is sewn in place and it is recommended to use a seam sealer to seal the seam as it can leak from the angle it is exposed to rain and prolonged rainfall.

Features of the 0 material
PERTEX QUANTUM PRO, a lightweight nylon material with a 15dn multiple ripstop design with a somewhat Japanese feel, is used. The nylon's flexibility allows the tarp to relax in areas of force and catch the wind like a swaying willow branch. It has a water repellent finish and polycarbonate coating (900 mm water resistance) instead of the silicone & polyurethane coating commonly used on lightweight tarps.
