The Rascal is the RLMW's largest capacity backpack for tented overnight traverses of approximately 45 litres over.
Opening and closing zippers + roll-top allow for a large variable capacity.
The back pad, harness pattern and core material have been redesigned for long hikes and traverses with a packing weight of 10-15 kg, making it more solid and comfortable to carry than conventional RLMW backpacks.
The perfect balance of lightness and durability that is the essence of RLMW remains unchanged.
The out-pockets, which have been thoroughly designed for ease of packing, usability and size, are ideal as a first backpack for tenting beginners as well as intermediate and advanced users.
It took about a year and a half of field testing before it was commercialised, resulting in a four-season backpack that can be used even in severe winter conditions.
The main feature of the Rascal is its versatility with easily variable capacity. For example, it can cover up to a tent overnight stay in a hut, or you can pack extra food for a mountain trip with plenty of room to spare.
The back is also designed with a wider width and wide padding with moderate firmness, providing excellent stability when hiking.
It is basically a shoulder-loaded backpack with a harness design that distributes the weight as much as possible.
Simple, large capacity out-pockets
Rascal is concerned with ease of packing and the usability of the out-pockets.
Large front stretch mesh pocket with large gusset and large capacity. Depending on the model, it can hold snowshoes, a wakan, shovel, etc. (Drainage holes at the bottom of the pockets).
The watertight zip pocket for small items is shallow for easy access when fully packed (depth: approx. 20 cm).
Side pockets with large capacity to swallow bottles and even shelters and packraft paddles (with drainage holes).
Solid, stable and comfortable to carry
The body shapes of the people who use them vary widely.
Rascal is designed to be easy to fit, with as wide an adjustment range as possible, as we want it to be used by as many people as possible.
The unprecedented hard and solid carrying comfort can only be experienced in the field, with specifications designed for overnight tents and traversing.
The adjustment range of the load lifter, the flexible harness attachment angle and the size of the harness and inner padding that minimises weight as much as possible were the most time-consuming parts of the development process.
