We have updated the design to combine two types of fabric: Pertex Shield Air and Shield Pro.
*Important Safety Information*
・This product is an ultra-lightweight waterproof shell made from an ultra-thin, waterproof, breathable fabric. Please be careful to avoid damage or tears caused by rubbing against rocks or snagging on trees.
・This jacket is designed for comfort during activities in relatively mild conditions, so it offers less insulation than standard-weight waterproof shells or winter hardshells. If severe weather, such as storms, is forecast, please take extra care when using this jacket in harsh conditions—for example, by wearing merino wool underneath.
・To ensure optimal waterproof and breathable performance, proper care after wearing is essential. The water-repellent finish on the membrane and fabric surface, as well as the inner layer of the fabric, can lose their effectiveness if exposed to dirt, sweat, or body oils. Please wash the garment regularly according to the care label instructions.
・If the fabric’s water-repellent properties are compromised, its breathability will also be lost. If you notice a decline in water repellency, apply heat—such as by tumble drying on a low setting or using a hair dryer—to restore the water-repellent properties. However, repeated washing can cause the initial water-repellent treatment to wear off, at which point applying heat will no longer restore the water repellency. In such cases, please use a commercially available water-repellent treatment to maintain the fabric regularly.
・Because this is an extremely lightweight and thin porous material, products containing petroleum jelly, insect repellents, or ethanol (such as hair creams, cosmetics, sunscreen, and insect repellents) may cause stains or reduce the fabric’s breathability if they come into contact with it.
・Insect repellents containing DEET can damage waterproof breathable membranes and fabric coatings, so please do not allow them to come into contact with this product.
■Short-lived water repellency
It is often said that the thicker the fabric, the more water-repellent treatment can penetrate it, resulting in better long-term water-repellency. However, the UL All-weather series prioritizes lightweight design and breathability, so we use the thinnest, most breathable outer fabric possible. As a result, while the garments have sufficient water-repellency at the time of shipment, their long-term water-repellency is lower than that of thicker, breathable waterproof materials.
While the water-repellent properties are effective, moisture that comes into contact with the fabric surface will roll off as droplets; however, once these properties weaken, the moisture will form a film over the fabric surface, impairing its breathability and potentially causing the inside of the garment to become stuffy or wet due to condensation.
If you feel that the water-repellent properties have diminished, you can restore them by applying heat with a dryer or hair dryer after washing. If the water-repellent properties still do not return, please treat the fabric with a commercially available water-repellent spray.

At the heart of its features is the unparalleled breathability provided by “Pertex Shield Air,” a breathable, waterproof fabric. However, it also had a drawback: as its water-repellency decreased, so did its water resistance.
By incorporating "Pertex Shield Pro"—which offers an excellent balance of water resistance and breathability—into areas particularly vulnerable to rain, we have succeeded in enhancing peace of mind during rainy weather without compromising the signature airy feel of the UL All-weather series.
Among the series, the UL All-weather Pants weigh just 98g (Size S ), making them among the world’s lightest 3-layer rain pants. They feature a slightly slim, simple design that allows for easy movement, a lightweight, breathable feel, and a smartphone pocket unique to Yama to Michi.
These pants are so comfortable—you should definitely wear them on sunny days, too.
○ All-weather mobile unit
Rain gear is designed to protect your body from the rain. However, as waterproofing improves, breathability suffers, and since heat builds up when you move around, you take it off as soon as the sun comes out. That’s just how rain gear used to be.
On the other hand, windshells are lightweight and breathable, but they get wet when it rains. Rainwear or a windshell? Until now, the conventional wisdom was to choose one or the other depending on the weather.
The advent of nanofiber membranes has changed this conventional wisdom.
Thanks to technology that “keeps you dry while letting air through,” we’ve created a shell that you can wear whether it’s raining or sunny. It doesn’t fall into the traditional categories of rainwear or windshells; instead, it’s a new category that serves both purposes. This is the “all-weather activewear” we’re introducing.

The front panel, which is directly exposed to the rain, features "Pertex Shield Pro," which offers an excellent balance of water resistance and breathability.

・For heavy stains, apply detergent diluted with water and spot-clean with a soft sponge. Do not rub the seams on the surface or the seam tape on the back.
・Please dry the item periodically in the dryer on a low-temperature setting (up to 60°C) to restore its water-repellent properties.
