At STATIC, we recommend natural materials for base layers that come into direct contact with the skin, minimizing the use of petroleum-derived fibers as much as possible. Merino wool keeps you warm in winter and wicks away heat in summer. For outdoor use, it is a high-performance fiber that offers not only thermal insulation but also moisture-wicking properties, odor resistance, and a soft, comfortable feel against the skin.

I was looking for a fabric made from merino wool that would stay comfortable even during the spring and summer months when you tend to sweat a lot. The solution I found was the ALL ELEVATION blended fabric, which combines merino wool with recycled polyester yarn.

In collaboration with wool experts from Bishu, we’ve retained all the signature qualities of our ALL ELEVATION fabrics while making them softer to the touch and more comfortable to wear.
The textured border mesh construction provides excellent breathability, while the recycled polyester yarn enhances quick-drying performance. Wearing a windshell over it further boosts warmth, making this a versatile piece that works well both as a base layer and on its own.
Of course, we use shrink-resistant treatment—specifically, a non-chlorinated resin shrink-resistant treatment.

・Eco-friendly shrink-resistant finish
In non-chlorinated resin anti-shrinkage treatment, the scales are not removed; instead, the hydrophobic scales are modified to be hydrophilic, and hybrid collagen is applied to prevent the scales from tangling with one another—thus preventing shrinkage. Furthermore, no resin is used.
It offers greater peace of mind in terms of biodegradability compared to chlorine-treated synthetic fabrics, and the fabric that comes into contact with the skin consists solely of wool fibers, not synthetic materials. Furthermore, by preserving the scales that govern wool’s natural properties, we have been able to create wool products that fully utilize the inherent functions of wool fibers. It can be described as an eco-friendly shrink-resistant treatment that preserves the natural qualities of wool fibers as much as possible.
I can’t forget the words of the developer at the shrink-wrapping plant, who told me, “Since we don’t use chlorine, it’s safe for our employees’ health.”
