・Regarding fabric puckering
Due to its distinctive double-weave structure, Pertex Equilibrium features thick threads woven into the reverse side at regular intervals. These thick threads consist of bundles of ultra-fine fibers, and as these fibers rub against body hair during movement, they become entangled, causing the fabric to pucker and creating a unique, wavy texture.
If you are concerned about pilling, please try the "How to Deal with Pilling" section at the bottom of this page.
■Hiking Shorts with Excellent Balance
Our goal was to create shorts that are lighter than the 5-Pocket Shorts yet tougher than the Light 5-Pocket Shorts—shorts that strike an excellent balance between lightness, durability, wind resistance, and breathability.
The custom-made Pertex Equilibrium fabric features a double-weave construction with a textured reverse side, ensuring it doesn’t cling to the skin and stays comfortable even when you sweat.
Of course, Yamato’s five unique pockets—positioned so they don’t get in the way when you lift your legs—allow you to neatly store your smartphone and maps.
*Please note that as you wear these shoes, the fabric surface may develop a distinctive wavy texture.

• A double-weave structure that feels light against the skin
The Pertex Equilibrium fabric used in the DW 5-Pocket Shorts—which Yama to Michi commissioned specifically for this product—features a unique double-weave (DW) structure that creates a textured surface against the skin, preventing the fabric from clinging to the skin.
While Yama to Michi’s Light 5-Pocket Shorts also use the lightweight Pertex Equilibrium fabric, the fabric of the DW 5-Pocket Shorts features thicker threads that create a textured surface. This prevents the fabric from clinging to the skin, even in situations where heavy sweating leaves both the skin and fabric damp, ensuring a dry feel against the skin.
○ 5 Pockets to Make Your Hike More Comfortable
Yamato Michi’s original design features five pockets that efficiently store all the essentials you need for hiking without hindering your leg movement.
In particular, the smartphone pocket on the side of the pants is positioned perfectly so that it doesn’t jiggle while running and won’t get squished under your butt when you sit down. The large pocket, designed for hiking maps, can even hold a 500ml plastic bottle.

■Product Care
・Please wash at a water temperature of 40°C or lower.
・Please wash this item on its own or place it in a laundry net.
・Please hang to dry in the shade.
・Please use the dryer on a low-temperature setting (maximum 60°C).
・The fabric may shrink when exposed to the heat of the dryer, but it will return to its original shape during washing and wear.
・Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
・Do not use the steam function when ironing; iron at a low temperature.
・Do not dry clean.
・It may shrink at high temperatures.
・Friction against body hair may cause pilling and snagging.
■How to Deal with Stiffness
Gently stretch the fabric little by little while stroking it with your hand in the direction of the pilling (the direction in which the fabric waves).
If the fabric still doesn't smooth out, use an iron set to a low temperature and press the fabric as if you were stretching it.
*Simply stretching the fabric can help reduce some of the puckering.
Please understand that this is one of the characteristics of the double-weave structure of Pertex Equilibrium.
*Pilling and fraying of the threads in the uneven double-weave structure of the lining are the primary causes of snagging.
While this can lead to a decrease in fabric strength, using a lint remover or similar tool to remove loose threads and pills from the lining will help prevent the fabric from puckering.
