Product description
Teppa Firewood Hatchet Awa-awa-
■ Manufacturer's Description Quotation
A double-edged hatchet named after Mount Awa, one of Niigata's 200 famous mountains.
This model is suitable for small firewood splitting, branch trimming, and other tasks.
The blade tip is thick and has a substantial weight, allowing you to experience a sharp cutting edge just by swinging it down.
Due to its fire-forged steel structure, maintenance such as re-sharpening and honing the blade is easy, allowing for long-term use with care.
The handle, made from hard oak grown in northern Kanto, is designed longer so it can be held with both hands.
Comes with a dedicated leather case designed with cuts inspired by mountain ridgelines.
〇 About Steel Attachment
The feature of steel-attached hatchets is that they are "durable and maintain sharpness".
A hard steel is attached to the blade tip that bites into the wood, while the rest is made of soft iron.
The steel is kept to a minimum and sandwiched by soft iron that is easy to shape, making it relatively easy to sharpen, maintain, and restore sharpness.
For these reasons, steel-attached blades have long been favored for their usability and ability to maintain function over time.
The steel-attached hatchets made by TEPPA are lifelong outdoor tools forged by fire-forging.
〇 About Spots and Scratches
These are small "dents" or "scratches" that look like sesame seeds on the blade.
They can occur when fragments of material get caught between the hammer and the material during forging, or when stirred in the "shot kiln" before heat treatment for surface coloring.
These dents and scratches are "proof of forging" and do not affect strength or use.
Please understand as these are forged hatchets handcrafted by artisans one by one.
