A double-edged hatchet for splitting firewood named after the famous peak of Niigata, Mount Sumon.
The blade has thickness and weight, so you can easily split firewood straight just by swinging it down.
Because it has a fire-forged steel structure, maintenance such as re-sharpening and blade setting is easy, allowing long-term use with care.
The handle, made from hard oak grown in northern Kanto, is designed longer and can be held with both hands.
All work is done by craftsmen in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, so it can be used for a long time while being repaired.
Comes with a dedicated leather case designed with a cut pattern inspired by the mountain ridge.

〇 About the steel attachment
The feature of a steel-attached hatchet is that it is "tough and maintains sharpness".
A hard steel is attached to the blade tip that bites into the wood, and the other parts are made of soft iron.
The steel is kept to a minimum and sandwiched by soft iron that is easy to shape, so it can be sharpened relatively easily, making maintenance easy and restoring sharpness.

For these reasons, steel-attached blades have been favored for a long time because they are easy to use and maintain function while keeping them at hand for a long time.
The steel-attached hatchet made by TEPPA is a lifetime outdoor tool forged by fire-forging.

〇 About specks and scratches
These are small "dents" or "scratches" that look like sesame seeds on the blade.
They may be formed when fragments of material get between the hammer and the material during forging, or when stirred in the "shot kiln" for surface coloring before quenching.
These dents and scratches are "proof of forging" and do not affect strength or use.
Please understand as each forged hatchet is handmade by craftsmen one by one.
