Of course, tents that can be used by larger people can also be used by smaller people, but the larger they are, the heavier they will be, and this will result in an unnecessary weight burden for smaller people.
Since shorter people have less muscle strength than taller people of the same body type, the weight of the tent is an important issue.
This is especially important for women, who generally have less muscle strength than men of the same height.
Comparing the average height of Japanese men and women, the average height for men is about 172 cm and for women it is about 158 cm, a difference of about 8%.
However, tents are not available in sizes based on height or gender like apparel.
Therefore, Arata thought that if they could create a tent that could be used comfortably by someone who was about 165 cm tall, it would be the perfect size for many women and small men, and it would also be a product that would appeal to climbers who prioritize lightweight design even if it meant some inconvenience.
The completed AX-75 has a width of 200cm, depth of 75cm, height of 93cm and a minimum weight of 900g, making it one of the lightest double-walled mountain tents in Japan.
(Equipped weight is 1045g, but the weight of the included ground sheet (68g) is not included in the equipped weight)
In addition, it uses the unique sleeve hub structure common to the AX series and a truss structure that makes full use of guy lines, making it lightweight yet strong, and allowing the strength of the tent to be increased according to the weather.
