■ Maintenance.
Use a neutral detergent and do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Close all buttons and fasteners before washing.
Rinse at least twice.
Tumbler drying and dry cleaning prohibited.
After washing, shape and hang dry in the shade in an airy place.
Do not rub or iron the print strongly.
■HPPE
○ Material Description.
Thin, lightweight fabric made of 88% recycled nylon and 12% HPPE, a high-strength polyethylene ripstop.
Normally, a tear strength of 10 N (newtons) is considered sufficient for 20 denier fabrics, but this material can achieve a figure of over 40 N.
High-strength polyethylene is extremely difficult to manufacture, and although it was known that this material could be used to make high-strength fabrics, it was very difficult to commercialise.
TETON BROS. was the first to adopt and commercialise HPPE, which was perfected by a domestic material manufacturer after many trials and errors.
○ Handling instructions.
It can be washed but should be hand washed and treated briefly and no fabric softener should be used.
For drying, shape and dry flat.
Do not dry clean.
Loftiness, warmth and water repellency are compromised as dry-cleaning solvents cover the fill.
Warm clothing worn over the shell.
When taking a break or stalling on a snowy mountain, you can quickly get cold if you try to take off your shell and put on a mid-layer.
So what to do.
Keep the shell on and layer warm clothing over it, TETON BROS. style.
This is an insulation with synthetic fibre padding for such situations.
One size larger to be stacked on top of the shell.
The cuffs can be zipped open for smooth wearing with gloves.
The filling is a mix of PrimaLoft ThermoPlume, which is shaped like down, and aerogel, which has a high insulation effect.
Outer fabric is HPPE (High Performance Polyethylene) ripstop for added durability.
It is lined with 10 denier Cordura and is a highly visible orange colour that can be used as a marker in an emergency.
Water repellent on both sides as it may be worn over a wet shell.
A TETON BROS. staple that staff and guides always carry in their backpacks.
○ Hood structure
Large hood adjustable in one action. Fits when wearing a helmet and also when not wearing a helmet.
○ Large pocket
Large capacity waist pocket. When used as a hand warmer, it opens from the bottom as required, effectively keeping cold hands warm without allowing warm air to escape.
○Cuff specification
Equipped with a zip on the cuff to allow the sleeve to be put through while wearing gloves. Half-lock slider that can be locked in the middle by tipping the slider upwards to accommodate large and small gloves. Inner rib construction fits the wrist on the surface to reduce cold air infiltration.
○ Inner pocket
Large mesh pocket for gloves and climbing skins. Wet items can be carried while drying with body heat.
○ Double slider
Front zip with double slider design for wearing a climbing harness.
○Levels
The lining is 10 denier Cordura. The lining is also water repellent, as it may be worn over a wet shell. It is highly visible orange and can be turned inside out to mark the area in an emergency.
