OctaCPCP used as a fleece
The outdoor clothing and active insulation category has expanded rapidly in recent years.
Mainly foreign brands were ahead in product development. One such active insulation padding material was TEIJIN OctaCPCP, a material with lightweight properties and high heat retention.
STATIC has chosen to use OctaCPCP as a single piece of fabric, which is normally a nylon lining material. This is because the brand's products, which are developed in high altitude and dry climates, are heavy because OctaCPCP is packed in a shell material, which is difficult to layer in Japan, where it is often carried as warm clothing.
Due to its special mesh construction, it is overwhelmingly lighter than fleeces weighing around 300g, which are generally considered to be thinner, and has a very high heat retention to weight ratio and excellent portability, making it ideal for all seasons.
Adoption of recycled materials
Octa fabric is composed of two types of fibres: polyester woolly fibres and polyester hollow octopus foot section fibres.
Of this, 53.6% of the woolly yarn is replaced by recycled polyester (ECOPET), reducing the environmental impact.
46.4% will be regular polyester hollow octopus foot cross section yarn.
This recycling process reduces CO2 emissions* by 23% during fabric production by using the same material of recycled polyester compared to OctaCPCP of virgin polyester. (*Teijin Frontier Co. CO2 emissions from raw materials (polymer) to fabric shipment).
What is OctaCPCP?
OctaCPCP, a mesh fleece material with a mesh surface and deformed cross-section hollow polyester brushed fibres integrated into the mesh material on the front which serves as thermal insulation.
A polyester fabric characterised by its lightness, warmth and good heat release. Normally used as a lining, STATIC has adopted it as a stand-alone fleece.

Lightweight: about one-half the weight of polyester fibres of the same diameter.
Sweat-absorbing and quick-drying properties: one-half the weight of polyester fibres of the same diameter.
Thermal barrier: Dead air in the space between the hollow and the eight prongs provides a thermal barrier effect.
■Environmental
From autumn/winter 2023, we have become the first company in the industry to use 53% recycled material.
Recycled polyester reduces CO2 emissions during fabric production by 23% compared to OctaCPCP made from virgin polyester.
The yarn itself is 100% non-recyclable polyester, but dyeing is also carried out using biomass (derived from plants) rather than petroleum, and textile waste from the production of the fabric is recycled.
The names are also made from recycled yarn.
*OEKO-TEX certification.
Oeko-Tex is the world's highest level of safety certification for over 350 hazardous substances, far exceeding Japanese safety standards, as well as certification of sustainable factories that take into account the impact on people involved in production and the environment.

Inner glove made of ultra-lightweight OctaCPCP.
Slits are provided next to the thumb, index and middle finger fingertips, so that detailed work can be done without taking off the gloves.
Wrist is made of fleece material that feels good against the skin.
