These arm covers reduce skin ageing such as spots, freckles, wrinkles, sagging and sunburn by cutting out UV rays, which have an adverse effect on the skin's outer layer, and near-infrared rays, which have an adverse effect on the skin's inner subcutaneous tissue. They also reduce fatigue and help to conserve energy when traversing the Alps in mid-summer. Ultraviolet and near-infrared rays account for about half of the light in sunlight (6% and 42% respectively), the rest being harmless visible light.
