The material is made from Yamamichi's original 100% merino wool of medium thickness, developed in Bishu, Japan's woollen textile production area, with a strength comparable to that of synthetic fibre blended fabrics. A zip that opens wide to the chest for improved ventilation and a kangaroo pocket to keep the abdomen warm.
This hoody is designed for mountain travellers, with natural temperature and moisture control and strong odour control to keep you comfortable even in situations where you can't change clothes for days.

From the stated values, the fabric will shrink approximately 1.5 cm lengthwise and 1.0 cm widthwise when dried flat after washing.

*There are slight individual differences in shrinkage rates, which may vary depending on the type of washing machine and course settings.
*Using a dryer on a low temperature setting may cause the product to shrink more than when dried naturally, but this can be remedied by washing and drying flat again.
*If shrinkage is a problem after washing and drying, it can be improved by steam ironing while stretching the fabric.
■100% About Merino hydrophilic finishes
While many merino wool fabrics have a water-repellent finish applied at the manufacturing stage, 100% Merino has a hydrophilic finish to wick perspiration away more quickly.
However, the wax added to the yarn during the production process to improve knitting efficiency is not dissolved by washing during the processing stage and may remain, causing the hydrophilic treatment to repel water without working in the unwashed state.
If the hydrophilic finish is not sufficiently hydrophilic at the time of purchase, after two or three repeated washings at home, the residual wax will be removed and the product will absorb water quickly.
■ Use of dryers.
Dryers can be used on a low temperature course (maximum 60°C). Avoid heavy use as the fabric is more likely to fluff and shed. Do not use a net, but use a stand-alone or generous capacity, because if the fabric is folded or wrinkled and dried with the water removed, the wrinkles will be fixed when the garment cools down. Remove the garment as soon as possible after drying.
■ Product care
Merino wool has excellent odour control properties and does not need to be washed frequently.
As 100% merino wool from Yamato and Michi is a shrinkage-resistant fabric, it can be washed on a washing machine's 'fashionable clothes course' or other gentle washing courses for delicate garments at low water flow.
Store with insect repellent, sealed bags or other insect control measures as they are easily eaten by insects.
Due to the short fibres, pilling and fluffing may occur, but the fluff will fall off to a certain extent and fluffing will become less likely to occur as the garment is washed.
