Based on the homemade fanny pack used by hiker [Turtle] on the PCT, this is a simple, versatile, and highly practical hiking fanny pack—one that “I really didn’t want to make” but that feels like it should exist yet is unlike anything else out there.

One of the key features of the Turtle, a simple hiking fanny pack, is its reversible design. There are no rules regarding which side the flap should hang on. If you frequently take items in and out of the mesh pocket, keep it on the outside. If you want to prevent the mesh from catching on things, keep it against your body. It’s entirely up to you how you use it.
