The edges are not sewn so it dries quickly and can be torn apart for use as a first aid measure. It is dyed using the uniquely Japanese "Chū-sen" dyeing technique, and the way the colors are absorbed and mixed varies from piece to piece.
The dye penetrates all the way to the core of the thread, so the texture improves the more you use it, and you can enjoy the changes that occur over time.
