Wind shell made from 100% recycled nylon with low CO2 emissions
This year, we went back to the basics and used 100% recycled nylon fabric. We used shrink-spun yarn that gives the fabric stretch without adding polyurethane, and the fabric does not sag due to water retention, resulting in a crisp and refreshing finish. In addition, we have inherited the good feeling of separation from the skin due to the unevenness on the inside, which was a characteristic of the recycled nylon and cupra blend fabric used last year.
Both yarn and fabric continue to be manufactured domestically.
The original model was said to emit 75% less CO2 during production than virgin nylon yarn, but we don't know the exact figure for this new fabric (there are no published figures from the manufacturer). However, since the process of spinning nylon yarn from pre-consumer nylon cotton waste is the same, we believe that CO2 emissions have been greatly reduced.
The importance of using recycled materials
In the "life cycle of clothing," from the production of yarn for clothing to disposal after wearing, the process that produces the most CO2 emissions is the raw material manufacturing process. Approximately 50%. In other words, reducing the CO2 emissions in raw material manufacturing will greatly reduce the environmental impact of one piece of clothing. In the case of pre-consumer recycled nylon, there are examples where CO2 emissions are reduced by 75%, so we believe that it is important to use recycled materials as much as possible and choose and wear such clothes.
*Pre-consumer recycled nylon
This is a product made by recycling nylon cotton waste generated during the manufacture of nylon yarn, which was previously incinerated, into nylon yarn and fabric.
■Environmental friendliness
-Water repellency is achieved by using an environmentally friendly C0 water repellent treatment that does not use fluorine.
・Reduced CO2 emissions during yarn production by using recycled nylon
・We also use eco-friendly labels (size tags: 100% recycled polyester, washing tags: 100% cotton lawn)
・We are promoting the elimination of individual plastic packaging.
