What we focused on was the "shrink-proofing process" before merino wool was made into fabric.

The most widely used shrink-proofing process is "chlorine resin processing." In this process, the scales on the surface of the fibers that cause shrinkage are dissolved and removed with chlorine, and then the fiber surface is coated with a resin such as nylon. In other words, most of the wool we wear is actually made of resin-coated fabric.

Other problems that have been pointed out include the fact that chlorine resin processing releases AOX organic chlorine compounds, which are thought to have an impact on the environment, and that the use of resins tends to cause the fabric to become stiffer with repeated use.
Nevertheless, chlorine resin processing appears to be popular due to its cost advantages.

At STATIC, we had doubts about this, and after consulting with wool experts from Bishu, we were able to produce a wool fabric that uses a shrink-proofing process called "Rabale processing" that does not use chlorine or resin.
The protein suppresses the scales on the surface of the fibers and prevents them from shrinking.

It is thought to have many benefits, such as being environmentally friendly, having the natural feel of wool, being more biodegradable as it does not contain resin, and being able to maintain the water-repellent and moisture-regulating properties of the scales.

This is a 100% genuine wool product that STATIC proposes and calls RAW (Real Activated Wool).

In manufacturing, we use biodegradable cotton even for the name tags, maximizing the biodegradability of the product as a whole and striving for a level that is gentler on the skin and the environment.
However, the sewing thread is ordinary polyester thread and is not yet biodegradable.
We are currently exploring ways to change this to a biodegradable material in the future.

The fabric has firmness and stretch, giving it a nice kick back.
This allows us to maintain the superb feel of the previous model while also achieving durability that can withstand repeated use.
In addition, the size has been adjusted to better fit the body.

■Care instructions
- The length will shrink slightly after the first wash (approximately 1-2cm)
After washing, lay flat to dry
- Do not use fabric softeners, as this can reduce the wool's natural water repellency.
