From the base to halfway, it has a thick, impact-resistant clam shell edge.
From the middle to the tip, the blade is gradually thinned and sharpened like a kitchen knife.
In other words, it's a blade that can be used for both cooking and splitting firewood.
Each one is handcrafted by a knife builder in Seki.
The so-called sword machete is designed for hunters and tends to be cumbersome for stream climbers and anglers, but this Miyama sword machete is simple and sized for easy handling.
A saw and the Miyama sword machete should be enough for nights in the valley.
