The 550 model opens and closes with a thumbhole and the grind has been changed from hollow to flat, making it even easier to use.

Thumbhole knives have a distinctive look and don't get caught in your pocket or get in the way when sharpening, so they are recommended for those who have some complaints about thumb stud knives.
The pocket clip is interchangeable, so it can be used by either right- or left-handed people.
Once you get used to Axis Lock, you won't be able to use other locks!
