Usually, a combination of a high-carbon steel plate (flint) and flint produces sparks, but in fact the pyrite can also produce sparks by itself.
Although more difficult, a combination of BushCraftInc. flint agate and this pyrite can also produce sparks.
The fire-making equipment of the 5,000-year-old Mummy Iceman also contained this stone and flint, and it seems that he actually carried it with him, if at all possible, so as not to extinguish the 'fiery fire' of the fire-starter.
Pyrite may have been a talisman for the Iceman as well.
