To tell the truth, rainwear is not often worn when sinogging.
This is because, even if it is to protect against rain, acting in a physical membrane will undoubtedly cause steaming, condensation and wetting due to perspiration.
Rainwear that claims to be slightly breathable is nowadays available, but this does not seem to have solved these problems.
For example, even a very breathable shell cannot instantly release all the sweat produced by exercise, can it? This is easily imaginable.
So what is the purpose of the amenohi, to outwit the inevitable rain?
If you're going to equip yourself with something you don't wear very often, it should be as light as possible and not too cumbersome to take on and off.
This led to the long mackintosh 'Amenohi', which can be worn alone to beat the rain without the need for raincoats.
Rainwear is a set of upper and lower rain suits. There was a time when this was the norm, but it is Ryo's job to develop what is needed without being bound by such conventional wisdom.
