According to one of the founders, Brian, the Superior is the perfected shoe.
This is due to its unique tongue fit and its minimal, lightweight design.
The Superior has a thickness of 21mm, making it the thinnest shoe in the Altra lineup.
Also, it does not have a stone guard built in to protect the sole from sharp impacts.
As a result, it is very flexible, allows you to feel the ground more, and makes it easier to transmit power from your toes.
Despite that, it has optimal cushioning to reduce impact on the body.
A major update this time is the outsole's improved grip, evolving into a stickier material.
Also, the upper's strength has increased, making it more resistant to tearing.
These shoes are recommended for those who want to enjoy being one with the mountains, prefer as thin shoes as possible but want to reduce damage during running, like short races up to about 50km, or are just starting trail running and want to carefully check foot placement and practice footwork.
