Appalachian Gear Company All-Paca Fleece Beanie
■Quote from manufacturer's description
Appalachian Gear Company's All-Paca Fleece Beanie is made from 100% alpaca fiber.
It's also super lightweight, breathable and packable.
Why not warm yourself up on a cool autumn morning?
Wear a beanie under your hat or helmet.
The seams are strong and the garment is made for backpacking and mountaineering.
The knit construction and fiber properties allow sweat to wick away easily while still providing incredible insulation.
Its excellent properties allow it to be worn in a wide range of temperatures.
Alpaca fibre does not absorb much moisture and dries quickly.
Appalachian Gear Company fleece is not thick or bulky at all and is warmer than other bulky types of fleece.
Most importantly, alpaca retains heat even when wet.
Down and synthetic fibers lose their insulating properties when wet.
Alpaca is truly one of nature's most functional fibers, extremely soft and comfortable to wear.
○Trail Seam
The unique 100% alpaca fiber fabric features seams worthy of adventure.
Appalachian Gear Company Trail Seams are engineered for incredible toughness and durability, ensuring your gear will perform reliably even under extreme stress and prolonged use. Appalachian Gear Company hoodies and shirts have traveled thousands of miles and rubbed under backpack straps millions of times, and Appalachian Gear Company Trail Seams have consistently met those stringent demands.
○ Weft Knit - 100% alpaca fiber is knitted into a unique fabric for superior performance.
Appalachian Gear Company's special knit construction is "run" resistant, so if you develop a hole while in the backcountry, it may get slightly larger over time, but you don't have to worry about the hole getting longer.
It achieves the "run" that is experienced with many lightweight knits.
Lightweight: 1.1 oz.
■Made in the USA
■Maintenance
-You don't need to wash this garment frequently.
Even if you are active and sweat, it will remain durable as long as you ventilate it.
Alpaca does not retain odors and prevents bacterial growth.
Because it is an animal fiber, it is susceptible to insect damage and, like wool, needs to be stored in a way that keeps it away from insects.
However, washing will not damage your beanie.
- Wash with other performance materials and socks using low to medium load, cold water, gentle cycle (normal cycle is fine).
We recommend not washing with large loads or heavy fabrics such as jeans or towels.
・Use regular detergent. Do not use "washing soda", chlorine bleach, peroxide bleach, or "oxygen detergent".
- Tumble dry the garment on gentle cycle with other similar items.
Drying takes only about 8-10 minutes. We do not recommend drying at medium to high temperatures or with lots of jeans or towels in the dryer.
Laying it flat to dry also helps.
- Fleece products do not shrink much.
- When you receive your clothing, it may be slightly flattened or stiff due to how it has been shipped and folded.
If this is the case, turn the garment inside out and use 3 or 4 wool dryer balls to put it in the dryer with no heat (i.e. the fluff cycle) and spin for 15-20 minutes. This will cause the garment to fluff.
○ If you are backpacking or traveling and need to wash this garment for some reason and regular detergent is not available
Backpacking: Rinse in river water and air dry, do not use detergents and follow the leave no trace principle.
- When traveling: Use shampoo and mild liquid dish/hand detergent (1-2 drops), rinse in the sink, wring out and hang dry or lay on a towel to dry.
